Abstract

ABSTRACT The aims of the study are: (1) to know the influence of environmental-oriented learning method (out group and in group) toward the improvement of students’ knowledge and attitudes in preserving the environment, (2) to know the influence of motivation in preserving the environment toward the improvement of students’ knowledge and attitudes in preserving the environment, (3) to know the interaction between environmental-oriented learning method and motivation toward the improvement of students’ knowledge and attitudes in preserving the environment, (4) to know the differences between knowledge and attitudes in preserving the students environment. The students who have high and low motivation after being taught by using the environmental-oriented learning method at SMA Negeri 9 Marusu Kabupaten Maros. The study was carried out at SMA Negeri 9 Marusu in Maros Regency for 6 (six) months on the school year 2014/2015. The type of this study is experiment with a factorial design 2x2. The total samples are 80 students of class X devided into four (4) groups. Each group consists of 20 students. The instrument used are test and questionnaire that have been examined their validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used are descriptive statistic analysis and inferential. The hypothesis test uses two lanes Anava test and Rerata test (t-test) by using The SPSS-20 program. The result of the study indicated that: (1) The environmental-oriented learning method provides significant influence for the improvement of students’ knowledge and attitudes in preserving the students’ environment. (2) The motivation of the environmental preservation does not influence the increase of knowledge, but it has significant effect on the attitude of the students’ environmental preservation. (3) The environmental-oriented learning method and the motivation of the environmental preservation do not have effect on the interaction of the students’ knowledge improvement, but they have effect on the interaction of the students’ attitude in preserving the environment. (4) The students’ environmental knowledge that has high motivation with out group method is better than in group method. In addition, the students’ environmental knowledge that has low motivation with in group method is better than out group method. Whereas, the attitude of the students environmental preservation that has high motivation with out and in group method are the same, and the attitude of the students environmental preservation using in group method is better than the students who are taught by using out group method at SMA Negeri 9 Marusu Kabupaten Maros.
