Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of the Discovery Learning model in terms of independence and learning outcomes of high school students in class XI on the human movement system material. This type of research is experimental research using one group pre-test-post-test. The sample of this study was selected by purposive sampling technique with one selected class (XI MIA 3), totaling 30 students. The data collection technique used is in the form of a multiple-choice test with 20 questions and a description of 5 questions. The data collected were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The results of descriptive data analysis showed that (1) the average score of the post-test of student learning independence was 78 which was higher than the average value of the pre-test of student learning independence, which was 44 (2) the average value of the post-test of student learning outcomes was 80 is higher than the average pre-test score of student learning outcomes, which is 40. Furthermore, the N-Gain value shows that (1) students' learning independence is in the high and medium categories, dominant in the medium category 83%) so that as many as 30 participants students are in the medium and/or high category (100%) (2) student learning outcomes are in the high and medium category, the dominant is in the medium category (70%) so that as many as 30 students are in the medium and/or high category (100 %). Based on the results of the analysis of the data obtained, it can be concluded that the application of the Discovery Learning model is effective in terms of independence and student learning outcomes in the human movement system material in class XI SMA 1 Parepare.
