Abstract

This research is anresearch ex-post facto that aims to uncover the effect of Perception of Teachers' Teaching Ability, Interests and Motivation on Mathematics Learning Achievement both directly and indirectly through the motivation of learning of Grade VIII students of SMPN in the Mainland Region of Pangkajene and Kepulauan 2019/2020 Academic Year. Total population of 37 schools or 3437 students with a sample size of 9 schools or 240 students. The sampling technique uses cluster equal size random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were (1) Questionnaire Perception of Teacher Teaching Ability, (2) Questionnaire Interest in learning and (3) Questionnaire Learning Motivation. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics with path analysis. The results showed that (1) Most or 34.2% of Grade VIII students of SMPN in the Greater Pangkajene and Kepulauan districts had Perceptions of Teachers' Ability to Teach in the High Category. (2) The majority or 36.7% of VIII grade students of SMPN in the Greater Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency have an interest in learning in the high category. (3) Most or 37.9% of Grade VIII students of SMPN in the Greater Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency have learning motivation in the Very High category. (4) Most or 87.5% of Grade VIII students of SMPN in the Mainland region of Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency have learning achievements in the High category. (5) Perceptions of teaching ability of teachers have a direct positive effect on learning achievement in Mathematics, Interest in learning has a direct positive effect on learning achievement and learning motivation has a direct positive effect on learning achievement (6) Teacher's teaching ability has a positive effect indirectly through learning motivation on Mathematics learning achievement. (7) Interest in learning does not indirectly have a effect through learning motivation on Mathematics learning achievement.
