Abstract
DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENT’S WORKSHEET BASED ON PROBLEM BASED LEARNING TO IMPROVE STUDENT’S METACOGNITIVE AWARENESS AND BIOLOGY LEARNING OUTCOME OF GRADEXI STUDENT’S AT SMAN 1 PANGKAJENE IN PANGKEP DISTRICT Mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Makassar, Makassar Ismail Dosen Biologi Universitas Negeri Makassar, Makassar Dosen Biologi Universitas Negeri Makassar, Makassar Abstract. Learning which oriented on the development of thinking skills can be an alternative to improve learning outcomes and process in Biology learning. One of the efforts to develop students’ thinking skills can be done by developing metacognitive awareness. The 2013 curriculum required problem solving skills possessed by student in learning and demand teachers to be able to develop appropriate learning material. Thus, an appropriate model and learning material are needed. Problem Based learning (PBL) model known as a model that able to improve metacognitive awareness of students and student’s worksheet are solution to such problem. The problem statements of the study are (i) How to develop student’s worksheet of Biology subject based on PBL? (ii) How are the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the development of students of Biology subject based on PBL? (iii) whether the student’s worksheet based on problem based learning developed can improve student biology learning outcomes? (iv) whether the student’s worksheet based on problem based learning developed can improve students' metacognition awareness? The study aims at developing (i) the student’s worksheet of Biology subject based on PBL, (ii) the learning tools of student’s worksheet of Biology subject based on PBL which meet the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness, (iii) to find out the student’s worksheet based on problem based learning developed can improve student biology learning outcomes. (iv) to find out the student’s worksheet based on problem based learning developed can improve students' metacognition awareness. The study is research and development. The procedure of development used ADDIE model, which consisted of five steps, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection was conducted through validation process of student’s worksheet, questionnaire of metacognitive awareness to measure the effectiveness. The site of research was at SMAN 1 Pangkajene in Pangkep District. The subject was grade XI MIA 1. The results of the study revealed that the mean score of validity of student’s worksheet based on PBL was 4.29 which were in valid category. The mean percentage of student’s response was 80.63% which was in strong category; the mean percentage of teacher’s response was 100% which in very good category, and the learning implementation was in very good category. The learning outcome improved had met the criteria of minimal mastery (KKM) by 85.7%. The student’s worksheet based that has been
