Abstract

ABSTRACT The research aimed to describe (1) the abilities of changing interview text to narration essay of class VII students at SMPN 3 Tellu Siattinge in Bone District without the implementation of Mind Mapping, (2) the abilities of changing interview text to narration essay of class VII students at SMPN 3 Tellu Siattinge in Bone District without the implementation of Mind Mapping, and (3) the effectiveness of Mind Mapping method in changing interview text to narration essay learning of class VII students at SMPN 3 Tellu Siattinge in Bone District. The research employed True Experimental Design in a form of Posttest-Only Design with data analysis techniques, namely descriptive and inferential statistics analysis. The research was experiment research. The populations of the research were all of the students in class VII at SMPN 3 Tellu Siattinge in Bone District with the total of 150 students. The samples were class VII A with 30 students in the control class and class VII C with 30 students in the experiment class. The samples were determined by using Simple Random Sampling technique. The instruments of the research were observation guideline and test instrument. The data obtained were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics technique. The results of the research showed that (1) the abilities of changing interview text to narration essay of class VII students at SMPN 3 Tellu Siattinge in Bone District without the implementation of Mind Mapping method were categorized as low and had not reached classical completeness criteria 83%. It was proven from the percentage of the students who reached the score ≥73, which was 30%, (2) the abilities of changing interview text to narration essay of class VII students at SMPN 3 Tellu Siattinge in Bone District with the implementation of Mind Mapping method were categorized as high and had reached classical completeness criteria 83%. It was proven from the percentage of the students who reached the score ≥73, which was 90%, (3) Mind Mapping method was effective to be implemented in changing interview text to narration essay learning of class VII students at SMPN 3 Tellu Siattinge in Bone District. The comparison of changing interview text to narration essay of class VII students at SMPN 3 Tellu Siattinge in Bone District between the experiment class and the control class showed that the score of t count > t table (5. 845 > l.67155). This showed that the research hypothesis proposed was accepted.
