Abstract
ABSTRACT This research aimed To study the influence of emotional intelligence on the students’ character of the accouting skill program at SMK Negeri 6 Makassar. The variables in this research were emotional intelligence (X) as an independent variable and the students’ character (Y) as a dependent variable. The populations in this research were all of the students in the accounting skill program at SMK Negeri 6 Makassar consists of 148 students. The sampling technique used a proportional stratified random sampling with the sample consists of 60 students’. The data were collected through questionnaires and documentation. The data analyzed using the instrument test consist of a validity test and reability test, hypothesis test consists of simple regression linear analysis, the t-Table test and the coefficient of determination with using SPSS version 25 for windows. Based on the data analysis a simple linear regression equation model has obtained Y= 46,854 + 0,671X means each addition of 1 unit of omotional intelligence, the studens’ characters has increased by 0,671. From the analysis of the coefficient of determination (r2) obtained the value of r2 = 17,9% means that emotional intelligence had influenced students’ character by 17,9% and the rest 82,1% influenced by other factors. While the result of the t-Table test obtained the significant value 0,001<0,05 means emotional intelligence had significantly influenced students’ character so that the hypothesis accepted.
