Abstract

The study aimed to examine the influence of the implementation of learning model on creative thinking ability and self efficacy of students by controlling initial ability. The study was quasi-experiment research with factorial 2x2 design. The experimental unit of this study was the entire students of public junior high school in Baubau city of academic year 2018/2019 (students of grade VIII) of two classes obtained randomly as the research samples. Data were collected by employing initial ability test, questionnaire of self efficacy, and crative thinking ability test. The collected data were analyzed using statistics descriptive analysis and inferential analysis (ANCOVA). The results of the study reveal that the students who have high self efficacy with mathematical creative thinking skills taught by using problem-based learning model is higher than the ones using direct learning model, the students who have low self efficacy with mathematical creative skills taught by using problem-based learning model is higher than theones using direct learning model, he student who havehigh initial ability with mathematical creative thinking skills taught by using problem-based learning model is higher than theones using direct learning model, and the students who have low initial ability with mathematical creative thinking skills taught by using problem-based learning model is higher than the ones using direct learning model. Therefore, the conclusion of the study is there is influence of the implementation of learning model on mathematical creative thinking ability by controlling initial ability and self efficacy of students.
