Abstract

The objectives of the research are to find out (1)Why do the students’ of SMA Neg.1 Sinjai do emailing activities: and (2)Does emailing activities influence the students’ writing competences at SMA Neg. 1 Sinjai, (3) How can E-mail activities support the students’’ writing competence at SMA Neg. 1 Sinjai This research applieda qualitative method, covering the collection, analysis, and interpretation of comprehensive narrative and visual data in order to gain insights into a particular phenomenon of interest. The participants of this research are the second year students of SMA Negeri 1 Sinjai, consisting of10 students chosen fromtwoclasses using purposive sampling The data of this research were collected through observation with simple protocol.The data were analyzed using the grounded theory technique, including three types or stages of data analysis, call open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The findings of this research revealthree parts (1) Why do the students’ of SMA Neg.1 Sinjai do emailing activities. Students claimed that emailing activities is interesting to do, comfortable, fast, and usable to send many file. (2)Does emailing activities influence the students’ writing competences at SMA Neg. 1 Sinjai. Studentsclaimed that emailactivities raising the habit of using English language when writing in email, improved their writing competence. (3) How can E-mail activities support the students’’ writing competence at SMA Neg. 1 Sinjai.English teacher claimed that email as a learning tool, email incrising of the students grades english language subject.
