Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of the research is to find out whether or not there were significant differences in the generic structure of procedure text which are goal (title), materials, and step writing achievement between the students taught through Seven-Phase Strategies and those taught through non- Seven-Phase Strategies. The researcher used experimental method with two groups’ pretest and posttest design. There are two classes given different treatments. Both classes were treated by Seven-Phase Strategies as the experimental class, and the control class non- Seven-Phase Strategies. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kahu in the academic year 2014/2015. The sample of this research consisted of students, selected through cluster sampling technique and the data were analyzed quantitatively. The result of the data analysis showed that there were significant differences of the generic structure of procedure text which is goal (title), materials, and step writing achievement between the students taught through Seven-Phase Strategies and those who taught through non-Seven-Phase Strategies. The value of t-test (3.250) was greater than t-table (2.042) at the level of significance (p) = 0>05 and degree of freedom (df) = 58 it can be concluded that the use of Seven-Phase Strategies in learning English process at SMPN 1 Kahu has a positive effect and can increase the students’ writing of generic structure procedure text.
