Abstract

This study was a descriptive research that aimed to describe creative thinking ability in mathematics problem posing based on the level of students’ mathematics skill. This research consists of 2 people as subjects. These subjects were chosen based on the level of mathematics skill students in class VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Sungguminasa. One subject represented the category of high mathematics skill (KMT) and one subject represented the category of low mathematics skill (KMR). These research instruments consisted of mathematics skill test, jucama mathematics test, and interviews guidelines. Problem posing means in this research is the task for the students to create or formulate their own problems which then they solve. The result of this research show that the subject of KMT satisfy two indicators of mathematics creative thinking ability in problem posing that is able to posed some problems dan its solution that are diverse and correct (fluency) and also able posed a problem (matter) that is different from the context and concept used (novelty), and satisfy a indicator of mathematics creative thinking ability in problem solving that is able to solved the problem presented complately and correctly (fluency). For the subject of KMR does not satisfy any indicators in problem posing and problem solving.This shows that the subject's mathematical skill has an influence on his mathematical creative thinking ability.
