Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of the research were (1) to find out whether or not the interview and report is effective to improve students’ speaking skill and (2) to find out the students’ attitude toward interview and report on students’ speaking skill. The research employed quasi experimental method. This research assigned two groups experimental and control group. Each group consisted of 30 students. The sample of this research was selected by using simple random sampling technique. To calculate the date, the researcher applied SPSS program version 20.0. Questionnaire score will be analyzed by using Likert scale and the data which resulted from the questionnaire would also be descriptively analyzed. The research result showed that there was an improvement on the students’ speaking skill of the posttest in experimental group after treatment. It was proven by the result of the students’ score in posttest. Based on the result of data analysis, there was a significant difference between the result of posttest experimental and control group. The mean score of the students’ posttest in experimental was 72.01 (fair) and students’ posttest in control was 56.11 (poor). It shows that the mean score of experimental group is higher than control group. The other finding was from the questionnaire showed that the students had strong positive attitude toward the use of Interview and Report on speaking skill.
