Some students think that it is hard or difficult to write, especially argumentative writing. The competence of writing especially argumentative paragraph, in general, is low. Because students don’t have reading culture, Conventional method of teaching and the teacher doesn’t involve the technology especially internet in teaching writing. This research aimed to (1) to examine whether or not the use of Nicenet Internet Classroom Assistance (ICA) can enhance the argumentative writing skill of the first year students of SMA Islam Athirah Kajaolalido in 2016-2017 academic year. (2) To examine the students’ interest in using Nicenet Internet Classroom Assistant class in learning writing argumentative paragraph. The design of the research is quasi experimental research with two group of pretest-posttest design. The population of the research were the first year students of SMA Islam Athirah Kajaolalido academic year 2016 - 2017 which was 120 students. Whereas for sample, the researcher used cluster random sampling. The researcher chose X MIA 2 as Experimental Class and Class X IIS 1 as Control Class. In this research, the researcher used two kinds of instruments. They were writing test and questionnaire. The procedure of collecting data of both experimental and control group through Jacob’s Scoring Rubrics to know the student’s Score of Writing. While for Scoring the student’s interest in using Nicenet Internet Classroom Assistant, the researcher used Likert Scale . The data which were collected through students writing test showed that the students’ skill in writing argumentative text by using the ICA can be enhanced considerably either in control group and experimental group. The data showed that writing argumentative text by using the ICA gave better effect in learning writing than the lecturing technique. ICA increased the students’ argumentative writing skill more significantly than the lecturing technique. The researcher recommends the teacher to use the ICA because it has a lot of advantages even though it also has some disadvantages.
