Abstract

This research aims to determine the comparison of student’s learning achievement who learn mathematics through cooperative learning model type think pair share and type two stay two stray in class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Makassar. This research is an experimental research. The research population is all of the students in grade VIII SMP Negeri 3 Makassar. The decision for choosing experimental classes is conducted by using cluster random sampling thus class VIII.5 is choosen as the class that apply copperative learning model type TPS and class VIII.4 is choosen as the class that apply cooperative learning model type TSTS. The experimental design that is used is equivalent pretest-posttest groups. The research instruments are observation sheet of learning accomplishment and learning achievement test. After the learning process, student’s mathematics learning achievement have reached the criteria of KKM with average score of 74.08 for experiment class I and 73.92 for experiment class II. While classically, 83.33% students in experiment class I and 88.89% students in experiment class II have passed. The improvements of student’s learning achievement by using normalized gain in experiment class I and experiment class II are in high category. The results of hypothesis testing of the classes shows that the significant value which is 0.901 is greater than the significant level of 5% so that it can be cocluded there is no difference in the improvement of student’s mathe matics learning achievement between who are taught through cooperative learning model TPS and who are taught through cooperative learning model TSTS.
