Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of this research are to find out: (i)students’ learning achievements at schools of accredited A and B. (ii) students’ perceptions on EFL teachers in teaching English in terms of pedagogic and professional competence at schools of accredited A and B.(iii) the influence of simultaneous competencies to their learning achievement. (iv) the influence of pedagogic competence towards students’ learning achievement. (v) the influence of professional competence towards students’ learning achievement. The design of this research was descriptive quantitative research. The population of this research was students of second and third grade student at Makassar state senior high schools who registered in academic year 2016/2017. The sample was 780 students which were selected by applying simple random sampling technique from 9 state senior high schools in Makassar. The data were collected by using questionnaire and achievement test. The data were analyzed by applying descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. For the first and second hypothesis were using Independent Samples Test and the third hypothesis was using Double Linear Regression to find out the influence of students’ perceptions on English teachers’ competencies toward their English learning achievement results. The research revealed that (i) students’ learning achievement was significant differences between schools of accredited A and B at Makassar state senior high schools, (ii) students’ perception on teachers’ pedagogic and professional competences were no significant differences between schools of accredited A and Bat Makassar state senior high schools, (iii) simultaneous competences had positive influence toward students’ learning achievement results, and (iv) pedagogic competences had positive influence towards students’ learning achievement results, and (v) professional competences had negative influence towards students’ learning achievement results.
