Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is a qualitative research, to describe the ability to think creatively and student learning independence based on cognitive style. The subject of research is 2 (two) people. The subjects were selected by group cognitive style with used GEFT. One subject represents the cognitive style of field dependent (FD) and one subject represents the cognitive style of field independent (FI). Data collection technique used are creative thinking ability test with SPLDV material, self study independence questionnaire, and interview. The results obtained are: (1) The subject of FDEA are level of creative thinking 3 (creative) because it has meets the fluency indicator and flexibility indicator. fluency indicator. The fluency indicator visible on the ability of the subject solve proplems with a variety of a ways and correct values, the flexibility indicator visible on the ability of the subject resolve the problem with more than 1 alternative different ways (subtitution and elimination); (2) the subject of FINZ are level of creative thinking 3 (creative) because it has meets the fluency indicator and flexibility indicator. fluency indicator. The subject of FDEA not confident in terms of expressed opinion, while FINZ subject has courage in opinion. The subject of FDEA and FINZ are both less disciplined during the learning process. The subject of FDEA and FINZ are both responsible for performing their duties. The subject of FDEA is less or less behave on its own initiative, while the subject of FINZ behaves on its own initiative . The subject of FDEA and FINZ both have self-control in learning.
