Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is an ex post facto research which aim to investigate the influence of Divergent thinking ability, Emotional quotient, Spiritual quotient and Adversity quotient on Mathematics achievement of students of SMAN in Maros. The research population is whole students of SMAN in Maros which listed in the academic year 2014/2015. Sampling was done by proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using five instruments, namely test test of divergent thinking ability, emotional quotient questionnaire, spiritual quotient questionnaire, adversity quotient questionnaire and mathematics achievement test. The data obtained were analyzed by using SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) through software AMOS 20. In addition, Sobel test was used to examine the relationship of intervening variables in the hypothesis. The results of descriptive statistical analysis showed that divergent thinking ability of students categorized as low with an average score of 47.70 and a standard deviation of 18.72. Emotional quotient students consisting of five dimensions, namely self-awareness with an average score of 22.72 and a standard deviation of 3:41, self-management with an average score of 24.95 and a standard deviation of 4:37, self-motivated with an average score of 26.95 and a standard deviation of 5:47, empathy with an average score of 18.46 and a standard deviation of 3.75 as well as social skills with an average score of 32.36 and a standard deviation of 5.87 was fifth in the special category. Spiritual quotient of students categorized special with an average score of 86.73 and a standard deviation of 12.17. Adversity quotient of students categorized as high with an average score of 140.81 and a standard deviation of 18.10. The results of student’s mathematics achievement categorized as very low with an average score of 45.54 and a standard deviation of 16.50. The results of inferential analysis showed that the spiritual quotient positive influence directly and significantly to divergent thinking ability, emotional quotient and adversity quotient. Partially, divergent thinking ability directly positive effect on mathematics achievement, while the emotional quotient, and spiritual quotient adversity quotient does not affect mathematics achievement at a rate of 95%, but the sample is declared positive effect tended. The analysis also showed divergent thinking ability strengthening the influence of spiritual quotient to mathematics achievement significantly, while the emotional quotient and adversity quotient insignificant. Keywords: Divergent Thinking Ability, Emotional Quotient, Spiritual Quotient, Adversity Quotient, Mathematics Achievement, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), Sobel.
