Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of this research were: (1) to find out whether or not the application of Group Work with Creative Writing significantly improves students’ writing skills, and (2) to find out whether or not the application of Group Work with Creative Writing technique is interesting to the students in joinning the writing class. This research employed quasi experimental design. The sample consisted of 80 students of third semester students of English Educational Study Program of Dayanu Ikhsanuddin Baubau, in 2014/2015 academic years. The research data were collected using two kinds of instruments: writing test for the students’ writing skill and questionnaires for students’ interest. Data on the students’ writing skill were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, and data on the students’ interest were analyzed using Likert scale. The results of the research were: (1) the application of Group Work with Creative Writing technique in teaching writing improved the students’ writing skills, (2) the application of Group Work with Creative Writing technique is interesting to the students in joining the writing class. It can be concluded that the application of Group Work with Creative Writing technique is effective to be implemented in improving the students’ writing skill in terms of content, organization, vocabulary, language use and mechanics and the students have very high interest on the application of Group Work with Creative Writing technique in teaching writing. Haryanto dan Kisman Salija). Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah: (1) untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan kerja kelompok melalui teknik tulisan kreatif meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa secara signifikan. (2) untuk mengetahui ketertarikan siswa dalam mengikuti kelas writing dengan menggunakan kerja kelompok dengan teknik tulisan kreatif. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 80 siswa semester tiga, program studi pendidikan bahasa inggris universitas Dayanu Ikhsanuddin Baubau tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan dua jenis instrument: tes menulis untuk data kemampuan menulis siswa dan angket untuk data ketertarikan siswa. Data kemampuan menulis siswa dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial, dan data ketertarikan siswa dianalisis dengan menggunakan skala Likert. Hasil penelitian adalah: (1) penggunaan kerja kelompok dengan teknik tulisan kreatif meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis, dan (2) Penggunaan kerja kelompok dengan teknik tulisan kreatif menarik bagi siswa. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kerja kelompok demgam teknik tulisan kreatif efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa dalam isi, organisasi, kosakata, penggunaan tatabahasa, mekanik dan siswa tertarik terhadap penggunaan kerja kelompok melalui teknik tulisan kreatif dalam pengajaran writing.
