Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran talking stick terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Tanete Rilau Kabupaten Barru. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pre-experiment atau pre-eksperimen. Populasi penelitian yakni seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Tanete Rilau Kabupaten Barru. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 58 siswa, kelas X3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X5 sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik tes terhadap dua kelas yang diberi perlakuan yang berbeda. Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis statistik inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) penerapan model pembelajaran talking stick, (2) model pembelajaran talking stick berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas XI SMA 1 Tanete Rilau Kabupaten Barru. Hal ini dilihat pada uji statistik inferensial menggunakan uji Independent samples t test. Hasil uji Independent samples t test yang menunjukkan p-value <0,05, yaitu 0,000 < 0,05. Ini berarti secara signifikan H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Adapun saran yang diajukan, yakni: (1) keterampilan berbicara dilaksanakan dengan berbagai variasi, satu di antaranya menggunakan model pembelajaran talking stick. Model pembelajaran talking stick dapat diterapkan dalam keterampilan berbicara, (2) siswa diharapkan lebih giat untuk berlatih dalam mengungkapkan ide dalam bentuk berbicara, sehingga kemampuan berbicara siswa semakin baik. Kata kunci: pengaruh, model pembelajaran, talking stick.   ABSTRACT Speaking skills are skills to pronounce language sounds or words to express thoughts. This study aims at examining the influence of implementing Tlking Stick learning model towards speaking skills of grade X students at SMAN 1 Tanete Rilau in Barru district. The study is pre-experiment research. The population is the entire students of grade X at SMAN 1 Tanete Rilau in Barru district. Samples is chosen by employing purposive sampling technique and obtained 58 students of class X3 as the experiment class and class X5 as the control class. Data is collected by using test technique to two classes given different treatments. Data is analyzed using statistics descriptive analysis and statistics inferential analysis. The result of the study indicates that Talking Stick learning model give influence towards Speaking Skills of grade X students at SMAN 1 Tanete Rilau in Barru district, proved by the statistic inferential test by using independent samples t-test. The result shows that p-value < 0.05, that 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that significantly the H0¬¬ is rejected the H1 is accepted. Suggestions based on the result of the study are (1) the speaking skills are conducted in various ways, one of them is using Talking stick learning model. The model can be applied in speaking skills, (2) the students are expected to practice diligently in expressing the ideas in speaking forms to enhance their speaking ability.
