Abstract

This research is an experimental study that aims (1) to describe the use of bottle cap media in second grade students of SD Inpres Minasa Upa 1, Rappocini District, Makassar City, (2) to determine the students' initial reading ability. second grade students of SD Inpres Minasa Upa 1, Rappocini District. Makassar City, and (3) To determine the effect of using bottle cap media on the early reading skills of second grade students of SD Inpres Minasa Upa 1, Rappocini District, Makassar City. This research uses a quantitative approach in the form of Quasi Experimental Design. The design used is a nonequivalent control group design. The independent variable in this study was bottle cap board media and the dependent variable was early reading skills. The population in this study were all students of class II and the samples were class II B as the experimental class as many as 22 students and class II A as the control class as many as 20 students. Research data obtained from observation sheets and tests. The data analysis technique used is descriptive data analysis and inferential data analysis. The results of this study indicate that (1) the use of bottle cap media in second grade students of SD Inpres Minasa Upa 1, Rappocini District, Makassar City can be categorized as very effective, (2) The students' initial reading skills in the experimental class of SD Inpres Minasa Upa 1, Rappocini District, Makassar City experience an increase from moderate to good category, and (3) There is a significant effect of using bottle cap media on the early reading ability of second grade students of SD Inpres Minasa Upa 1, Rappocini District, Makassar City.
