Abstract

ABSTRACT The research aims to describe the effectiveness of cooperative model of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type using open-ended problem approach in Mathematics learning of class VIII students of SMPNegeri 13 Makassar. The research is pre-experiment. The population of the research was class VIII.4 as experiment class chosen by using cluster random sampling technique. The data of the research were collected by using instrument, namely learning implementation, observation sheet on students’ activity, learning result test to measure cognitive ability and learning creativity on Mathematics, and questionnaire of students’ response. The data of the research were analyzed using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The results of the research reveal that the students’ activity in learning is in very active category with the average score 3.5, the students’ mathematic learning result is in high category with the mean score 81.75 and the deviation standard 9,52, the classical completeness level is 77,8%, the average of normalized gain of learning result is in high category, the students’ mathematics learning creativity result is in highcategory by the mean score 80,35, the students’ response on the implementation of Cooperative Learning Model type Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type with Open-Ended Problem approach is in positive category by the mean score 3.51. In general, the conclusion of the research is the Cooperative Learning Model Numbered Heads Together (NHT)typewith Open-Ended Problem approach is implemented effectively in Methematics learning of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 13 Makassar Keywords: Cooperative Learning Model of NHT Type, Open-Ended Problem approach
