Abstract

Abstract A game is a recreational activity with rules dictating who wins and who loses. Once it relates to learning a foreign language, internet games can have both beneficial and detrimental effects. The vast majority of them use internet games as learning aids and as a fun method to practice English. The goal of this study is to see how online games effect speaking skill. This is a quantitative research design involving 30 students from an Indonesian state university. A purposive sample strategy was utilized to disseminate the questionnaire used in this study. The data was evaluated using simple linear regression (F-Test) and descriptive statistical analysis methods. According to the data, internet games had a 43.4 percent impact on pupils' speaking abilities. This study was also investigated the students’ response toward the use of online game in speaking ability. This study proposed the implications for the teacher to integrate the online games in teaching speaking with the well-planned activities. Keywords: Online Game, English Speaking Skill
