Abstract

Abstract: The Use of Honorifics for Sale and Purchase Speech in the Traditional Market of Barru Regency and its Implications for Learning Indonesian Language. This study aims to describe the categories and types of honorific use, the factors that influence the use of honorifics, and (3) the application of the use of honorifics to Indonesian language learning. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data in this study are sales and purchase stories in the traditional markets of Barru Regency which use honorifics. The data techniques used were observation, record, and note techniques. The data analysis technique in this study used three procedures, namely the data reduction stage, the data presentation stage, and the data levering stage. The results showed that (1) the use of honorifics in buying and selling speech was found in two categories, namely addressee honorific and bystander honorific, (2) the use of honorifics in buying and selling speech was dominated by the influence of factors such as age, ethnicity, social strata, kinship, situation and condition. gender, culture, social and speaker relations, dominated by age factors, and (3) The use of honorifics in buying and selling speech has implications for Indonesian language learning, namely learning negotiation texts that can be implemented as reading material and student work training in the teaching and learning process.
