Abstract

Abstract This research is an experimental study (Experimental Research) which aims to determine the effect of giving Vitamin C on VO2 Max in students of SMAN 6 Makassar. With a research design (Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design). The independent variable in this study was Vitamin C, while the dependent variable was VO2 Max students of SMAN 6 Makassar. The population in this study were all students of class XI IPA SMAN 6 Makassar. Sampling using simple random sampling technique, with a sample of 14 people are students of class XI IPA 6 as the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group with 7 students and the control group with 7 students. The research data were obtained by giving tests and measurements of VO2 Max in the form of Pre-Test and Post-Test. The data analysis technique is the analysis using the SPSS statistical test. The data analysis technique used is descriptive test, data normality test, and t test. The results of the descriptive test of the experimental group obtained an average value of VO2 Max in the Pre-Test of 35.9 and the results of the Post-Test obtained an average value of 41.5. While the control group obtained the average value of VO2 Max in the Pre-Test of 47.7 and the Post-Test results obtained an average of 40.8. The results of the normality test of the Pre-Test experimental group obtained the Shapiro-Wilk value, Sig = 0.581 (P > 0.05). Post-Test obtained Shapiro-Wilk value, Sig = 0.485 (P > 0.05). While the Pre-Test control group obtained the results of the Shapiro-Wilk value, Sig = 0.299 (P > 0.05). Post-Test obtained Shapiro-Wilk value, Sig = 0.472 (P > 0.05). The results of the t-test of experimental group data analysis obtained a value of sig 0.02 (sig < 0.05), with a difference (-6.9), which means that there is no significant effect. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of giving Vitamin C on the value of VO2 Max in students of SMA Negeri 6 Makassar Keywords : Giving, Vitamin C, VO2 Max, Students
