Abstract

This research is a quantitative study that aims to determine the ability to understand foreign terms in the Covid-19 pandemic era of junior high school 38 Makassar students obtained from the ability of students at junior high school 38 Makassar to interpret foreign terms in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic and the ability of junior high school 38 Makassar students to use Foreign terms in the Covid-19 pandemic era into sentences. The population in this study consisted of 3 classes of VIII students of junior high school 38 Makassar, while the sample was 48 representative students from class VIII A, B and C. The research data was obtained by giving 2 types of tests, namely the matching test, and the sentence making test. Based on the results of data analysis, the overall average of the matching test results was 40,77 and the overall average of the sentence-making test results was 41,37. It can be concluded that students of junior high school 38 Makassar are less able to interpret foreign terms in the Covid-19 pandemic era, supported by an overall average of 40,77 which is in the category of underprivileged assessment, and students of junior high school 38 Makassar are quite able to use foreign terms. Covid-19 into a sentence, supported by an overall average of 41,37 which is in the fairly capable assessment category.
