ABSTRAK This study aims to ( i) determine activity, motivation and learning outcames of students of class XI SMA krsten Barana’ who were taught by the approach of science, enviroment, tecnology and society ( salintemas ) on the subject of human motion system; ( ii ) know the difference between motivation and learning outcames of salingtemas approach with conventional approachs on biology teaching n class XI IPA at SMA Kristen Barana’ on the material motion system of human. This type of research is a quasy-expermental with quantitative approuch research that was conducted at SMA Krsten Barana’. In this experment, the first group applied salingtemas approuch and the second group applied conventional learning/control. The research instrument is aquestionnaire to measure the activity of learning activities, motvation questionnaire to measure learnng motvation, biology achievement test to measure the ability of students before and after the learning process. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics to describe the students learning activities, student motivation and learning outcomes of students in biology learning inferential statistical analysis to test the hypothesis by using test-anacova ( with the level of significance α = 0,05) with the assistance of SPSS 18.0 for windows. The results of this study indicate that: (i) the results of descriptive analysis shows the increase of student learning activities who are taught with the use of approaches salingtemas categorized effective ang better than conventional learning/control; (ii) learning motivation and biology learning outcomes of students who were taught with salingtemas approach has increased and is better than learning motivation and biology learning outcomes of students who were taught by convensional learning/control. (iii) There is a significant difference in learning motivation and biology learning outcomes of students who were taught trhough salingtemas approach with convensional learning approaches.
