Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between parenting styles and learning independence of children aged 5-6 years in Harapan Bangsa Kindergarten, Gowa Regency. This research uses quantitative research with correlation method. The population in this study were children aged 4-5 years or group B in Harapan Bangsa Kindergarten, Gowa Regency as many as 33 children. The sampling technique used in this research is Total Sampling. The research was carried out by distributing questionnaires and filling out observation sheets. The results of the research found that each parenting pattern has a moderate category that tends to be high, authoritarian parenting is 79%, democratic parenting is 82% and permissive parenting is 79%. The results of observations of 33 children were 85% of children experienced moderate independence in the moderate category, 6% were in the medium category and 3% of the children were in the high category. The results of the correlation test by means of parametric statistics using SPSS software version 20 show the correlation coefficient is 0.376* with a significance level of 5%. Then it was concluded that there was a significant positive relationship between parenting styles and children's learning independence
