ABSTRAK . 2016. . (Supervised by Hamzah Upu and Abdul Rahman) This research was a classroom action research, aims at developing Mathematics learning quality through the implementation of problem based learning model by using structured scaffolding to grade VIII-1 students at SMPN 3 Makassar in terms of: (i) improving the quality of Mathematic learning process through the implementation of problem based learning model using structured scaffolding to grade VIII-1 students at SMPN 3 Makassar; (ii) improving the quality of Mathematics learning result through the implementation of problem based learning model by using structured scaffolding to grade VIII-1 students at SMPN 3 Makassar. Data was collected through observation sheets, learning result test, and students questionnaires. The treatment was conducted in two cycles. The data analysis consisted of quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The results of the research reveal that (i) the implementation of problem based learning model using structured scaffolding can improve the quality of Mathematics learning process to grade VIII-1 students SMPN 3 Makassar with the indicators target completeness : (1) the improvement of students’ activities before the treatment in cycle I is 71,25%, which is in fair category and in cycle II is 83,25%, which is in good category; (2) the improvement of students’ behavior before the treatment in cycle I is 2,41, which is in good category and in cycle II is 3,43, which is in very good category; (ii) the implementation of problem based learning model by using structured scaffolding can improve mathematics learning result of grade VIII-1 students at SMPN 3 Makassar shown by the improvement Mathematics learning achievement of the students before the treatment in cycle I with the classical completeness percentage by 38,46% which is in low category and with the average score of the students by 69,92 from the ideal score of 100, and it is in fair category with deviation standard of 15,10 to cycle II with the classically completeness percentage by 79,49% which is in good category with the average score of the students by 78,77 from the ideal score of 100, and it is in good category with the deviation standard of 11,78.
