Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to abtain: (1) description of teacher’s perception about the 2013 curriculum implementation, (2) the factors that support and inhibit the 2013 curriculum implementation, and (3) description of school’s readiness for the 2013 curriculum implementation in south Sulawesi. The study population was all target schools which had applied the 2013 curriculum, as many as 296 schools. The samples were chosen using the multi stage random sampling technique. Firstly, based on region (cluster sampling), namely Makassar, Maros, and Barru. In those regions, 66 target schools were chosen whit 2539 teachers. Secondly, from stage samples, 10% samples or 253 persons were chosen as respondentsusing proportional sampling. Observation, questionnarire, interview, and documentation were used to collect data. This study used descriptive analysis as data analysis model. The study results showed that; (1) teacher had good perception about the 2013 curriculum implementation, (2) Factors which support the 2013 curriculumimplementationwerethe managerial ability of headmaster has been in supportive state, and school supervisorhave done their function well. Factors which inhibit were (a) the lack of vacilities and media which support the education proces, (b) lack of understanding of the 2013 curriculum andeducation technology control, limitation of teachers to do classroom actionresearch and study model application which is recommended in the 2013 curriculum, and (c) School committees had not done their role optimally, and (3) School had employed the 2013 curriculum. It is recommended to the local government to; (a) provide adequate facilities, (b) provide adequate supportive media for study process, (c) increase intensity of the 2013 curriculum socialization to teachers, society, or education-related institutions, and (d) increase intensity of the 2013 curriculum training/workshop for teachers.
