Abstract

Abstract The low learning outcomes in mathematics subjects about the basic concepts of fractions for grade 2 students at SD Negeri Tambakreja 06 encouraged research at SD Negeri Tambakreja 06, South Cilacap. It aims to improve student learning outcomes about the basic concepts of fractions. In an effort to improve student learning outcomes, appropriate media and learning methods are needed. One alternative learning media that can be used by teachers is concrete media with the Problem Based Learning model. The research procedure used follows the Classroom Action Research procedure which is carried out in 2 cycles, namely Cycle I and Cycle II and begins with Pre-cycle activities. At each stage, the lesson plans and media were improved so that the percentage of success in using concrete media with the Problem Based Learning model could be known. The results of the study using concrete media with the Problem Based Learning learning model showed an increase in student learning outcomes which also showed a very significant increase. At the pre-cycle stage, it is known that the average value is 68 with the percentage of Minimum Completeness Criteria still 31.03%. Then in the first cycle it is known that the average value of students is 79 and the percentage of Minimum Completeness Criteria increases to 68.97%. In Cycle II, the average score increased again to 86 and the percentage of students who achieved the Minimum Completeness Criteria to 89.65%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of concrete media with the Problem Based Learning learning model can improve student learning outcomes on fractional material.
