Abstract

ABSTRAK Khaerul Mahfud. 2014. Subjective Well-Being Mahasiswa Yatim Piatu Universitas Negeri Makassar. Skripsi Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Negeri Makassar Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan subjective well-being (SWB) mahasiswa yatim piatu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan wawancara dan observasi yang melibatkan tiga orang subjek berusia remaja akhir. Berdasarkan data yang telah diperoleh, maka diambil kesimpulan sebagai berikut. Pertama, SWB pada mahasiswa yatim piatu ketiga-tiganya saat ini menurun jika dibandingkan dengan saat masih hidup bersama dengan kedua orangtua karena menimbulkan banyak afek negatife yang dirasakan. Afek negatife tersebut berupa ketiga subjek sulit melupakan figur ayah dan ibu, merasa kehilangan sumber pemenuhan kebutuhan hidup fisik maupun psikologis, iri melihat teman sebaya yang masih memiliki kedua orangtua, masih menolak keadaan tidak pernah mengharapkan hidup tanpa kedua orangtua yang meninggal begitu cepat. Kedua, meskipun lebih banyak merasakan afek negatife sehingga merasa SWB-nya menurun, ketiga subjek juga berusaha kembali untuk memperbaiki SWB-nya dengan menumbuhkan afek positif dalam dirinya dengan melakukan perilaku coping (emotional focused coping, coping religious positive, dan problem focused coping) dalam menghadapi masalah hidup setelah menjadi yatim piatu. Ketiga, bukan hanya afek positif tetapi juga ketiga subjek juga berusaha kembali menciptakan kepuasan hidup dalam dirinya setelah menjadi yatim piatu dengan melakukan adaptasi (belajar hidup mandiri), telah mampu memenuhi kebutuhan hidup sendiri, serta mampu menatap masa depan dengan lebih baik. Ketiga subjek puas tetap sehat dalam menjalani kehidupan, dan puas masih dapat mengenyam pendidikan. Kata kunci: Subjective well-being, yatim piatu, remaja   ABSTRACT Khaerul Mahfud. 2014. Minithesis Psychology Faculty State University of Makassar This study aims to describe subjective well-being orphaned students at the University of Makassar. This study used a qualitative method with phenomenological approach. Data were collected by interviews and observations. Three (3) student were involved in this study. Findings indicated that there were three conditions of SWB of students orphans. First, SWB all subject current decreased when compared with while still living with both parents, because it raises many negatife affect perceived. That negative affect are all of subject is difficult to forgot a father and mother, felt loss of subsistence resources of physical and psychological, jealous of the peers who still have both parents, still refuses the state never expected to live without both parents died so quickly. Second, although there are more sense negative affect by subject so feel his SWB its decline, all of subjects are also trying to get back to fix her SWB with foster a positive affect on him with coping behavior (emotional focused coping, positive religious coping, and problem focused coping) in face the problem of life after being orphaned. Third, not only positive affect, but all subjects also tried re-creating his life satisfaction after being orphaned by adaptation (learning to live independently), has been able to meet the needs of his own life, and be able to face the future be better. All subjects also satisfied to remain healthy in his life, and satisfied still can get an education. Keywords: Subjective well-being, Orphan, Teens
