Abstract
Abstract The main problem of the study is the form social interaction and communication patterns of hearing impairment students at (SLB-B of YPPLB Makassar) .The aims of the study are to discover: 1) The forms of social interaction of hearing impairment students at SLB of YPPLB Makassar, 2) The patterns of teacher's communication on hearing impairment students at SLB of YPPLB Makassar, and 3) The factors encourage the interaction of hearing impairment students at SLB of YPPLB Makassar. This study employed descriptive qualitative approach. The informants were 6 teachers of SLB of YPPLB Makassar in Mariso subdistrict in Makassar City. The informants were taken by employing purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques employed observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques were conducted in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study reveal that: 1) The forms of interaction of hearing impairment students at SLB of YPPLB Makassar are associative and dissociative, 2) The patterns of teacher’s communication on hearing impairment students at SLB of YPPLB Makassar is primary communication pattern in the forms of verbal and nonverbal communication as well as Secondary Communication (Media), Linear and Circular Communication, and 3) The driving factors for the interaction of hearing impairment students at SLB-B of YPPLB Makassar are imitation, suggestion, identification, sympathy, and empathy factors.
