Abstract
Barrang Island lompo is one of the islads in the sangkarrang Islands of Makassar City with a population of different socioeconomic characteristics of the population. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze the socio-economic characteristics of mustard fishermen in Barrang Lompo Island. The research method using descriptive statistics. Population of 444 kk using Slovin formula, 82 respondents selected by using systematic samples Primary and secondary data were analyzed with descriptive statistics presented in the form of percentage, cross tables and drawings. The results of the study indicate that the social characteristics of the sawmill fishermen vary in age, education, income, expenditure, number of dependents, ethnic / ethnicity and place of birth. Therefore, the government needs to adopt a strategy policy to support the welfare of the mustard fishermen in Barrang Lompo Island.
