Abstract

Local-based children's literature, especially in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, among others: La Dana and Kerbaunya, Sawerigading, Putri We Taddampalie, La Kuttu-Kuttu Paddaga, I Laurang, Lasinring Bone and Nene Pakande. The literature of this child is rarely known in the society in this modern era. This is in line with the development of technology, especially electronic media. Generally children are more likely to watch soap operas, movies, and other entertainment. At this time the children's literature that has the values of character education extraordinary in the formation of private students as the next generation of the nation began to leave. Therefore, it is necessary to study the values on a large scale to the work of children. Children's literature is a document of our ancestors and became a document of the Indonesian nation that needs to be preserved and applied in the character education of children in this modern era. The purpose of this study is to explore the character values contained in the literature of children Nene Pakande and how to apply the values of children's literary characters to learners. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques using data collection techniques with the document, namely: reading folktale Nene Pakande, record the data associated with the value of the character and then classify data. Data analysis techniques with content analysis techniques with the steps: data reduction, presents by arranging regularly and detailed, analyzing the data presented so as to obtain a description of the values of character education and drawing conclusions / verification. The results showed that the values of character education found in Nene Pakande, namely: religious, humanitarian, social, clever, caring, creative, and responsibility and how to apply the values of children's literary character Nene Pakande to learners, namely: reading Nene Pakande's tale repeatedly and played the role of characterizing La Beddu in the form of drama or film.
