Abstract

Program Studi Administrasi Pendidikan, PPs UNM Email: abdulgapur.ppsunm@gmail.com Abstract: The study aims to discover: (i) the description of the implementation of a portfolio-based learning model in social studies learning in grade IV at SD Inpres Minasa Upa in Makassar City, (ii) the description of learning outcomes of grade IV students at SD Inpres Minasa Upa in Makassar City, (iii) the influence of the implementation of a portfolio-based learning model in social studies learning on learning outcomes of grade IV students at SD Inpres Minasa Upa in Makassar City. The population of the study were all grade IV students at SD Inpres Minasa Upa which were divided into three classes, namely IV-A, IV-B, and IV-C with a total of 80 students. From the population, class IV-C was randomly selected as the experimental class and class IV-A as the control class. The type of this study is experimental research. The data were collected by using observation sheets and test, then analyzed descriptively with descriptive statistics and inferential with independent samples t-test using the SPSS 20 program. The results of the study reveal that (i) the implementation of portfolio-based learning model in social studies learning was conducted with the following steps: forming several groups in the class, identifying problems, selecting problems to be studied in class, gathering information about problems studied in class, creating class portfolios, presenting portfolios and reflecting the learning experience were conducted very well; (ii) the learning outcomes of students at experimental class (class IV-C) taught using portfolio-based learning model obtained an average score of 82.57 in high category, while in the control class (class IV-A) taught with conventional learning model obtained an average score of 75.00 in medium category; and (iv) there is a positive and significant influence of the implementation of portfolio-based learning model on learning outcomes of grade IV students at SD Inpres Minasa Upa Makassar City..
