Penggunaan Preposisi Bahasa Indonesia pada Teks Eksposisi Siswa Kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Makassar Dwy Annisa Nur Pratiwi, Ramly, dan Idawati Garim Universitas Negeri Makassar Jl. Mallengkeri Raya, Parang Tambung, Kec.Tamalate, Kota Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan 90224, HP: 0852 4288 1711 da.dannisa@gmail.com Abstract: This research aimed to describe the use of Indonesian language’s prepositions on students’ expositional text grade X at SMA Negeri 4 Makassar in 2019/2020 academic year. This research was a qualitative research using descriptive method. Population of this research was students grade X at SMA Negeri 4 Makassar in 2019/2020 academic year and its sample was students in class X IPA 2 dan X IPA 3 counting for 35 students. Data collection in this research used writing test techniques, questionnaires, and interviews. Data analysis used was descriptive-qualitative.The results of data analysis revealed that there were 129 errors of using single basic word preposition on students’ expositional text and 22 mistakes consisting of correlated compound preposition, side by side compound preposition, single preposition, and preposition with prefixes.The results of this research showed that there were 4 factors causing errors and mistakes of using preposition, namely, (1) the lack of students’ understanding about the rules of using preposition; (2) the lack of students’ accuracies in writing preposition; (3) the lack of students’ language competencies; (4) the lack of students’ awareness of the importance of using preposition
