Abstract

ABSTRACT Marhawa, 2021. The Relationship between Perceptions of Parenting and Learning Motivation on Student's Learning Achievement in Grade V at SDN in Tanete Rilau Subdistrict in Barru District. Educational Administration Study Program, specialization of Basic Education. Postgraduate Program, Makassar State University (supervised by Kustiah Sunarty and Amir Pada). This research is a type of correlational research that examines the relationship between perceptions of parenting and learning motivation of grade V students at SDN (public elementary schools) in Tanete Rilau subdistrict in Barru district. The independent variables in this study are the perception of parenting and students’ learning motivation; whereas, the dependent variable is the students’ achievement. The population in this study were all the fifth grade of students in 28 SDN spread in Tanete Rilau subdistrict in Barru district. The research sample consisted of 101 students who were determined by using cluster sampling technique. The analysis techniques used were descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. In order to collect the data, the researcher used questionnaires and data on learning outcomes (report cards). The results of the research reveal that (1) the description of the perceptions of parenting of grade V students at SDN in Tanete Rilau subdistrict in Barru district is in high category, (2) the description of the students' learning motivation of grade V at SDN in Tanete Rilau subdistrict in Barru district is in medium category, (3) the description of the students’ achievement of grade V at SDN in Tanete Rilau subdistrict in Barru district is in high category, (4) there is a positive relationship between the perceptions of parenting and students’ achievement of grade V at SDN in Tanete Rilau subdistrict in Barru district, (5) there is a positive relationship between the students’ learning motivation and students’ achievement of grade Vat SDN in Tanete Rilau subdistrict in Barru district, and (6) there is a positive relationship between the perceptions of parenting and students’ learning motivation on learning achievement of grade V at SDN in Tanete Rilau subdistrict in Barru district.
