ABSTRACT The study aims at examining the learning outcomes before and after the implementation of cooperative learning model of TPS-NHT combination type, students’ activities during the implementation of cooperative learning model of TPS-NHT combination type, and students’ responses after the implementation of cooperative learning model of TPS-NHT combination type. The study was quasi experiment research. The research desidn employed one group pretest-posttest design. The study was conducted at SMPN 2 Barombong of the first semester of academic year 2018/2019 from grade VIII.A to grade VIII.H with as many as 283 students. The samples of experiment unit were selected by employing cluster random sampling technique. The experiment unit which was given the cooperative learning model of TPS-NHT combination type with four meetings. Data were collected using test of learning result, observation sheet, and questionnaire instruments. The result of descriptive statistics analysis to KKM, the mean score of students’ learning result (posttest) was 84,59 with classical completeness 91,18, the gain score was 0,72 with high category; whereas, the mean score of all aspects of students’ activity was 3,53 with active category, and the mean score of students’ response was 3,57 with positive category. The result of inferential statistics using one sample t-test on the students’ learning result (posttest), gain score, classical completeness, and students’ response questionnaire obtained significant p ≤α (0,05) which meant that H0 was accepted, thus, the inferential statistics analysis on students’ learning result (posttest), gain score, classical completeness, and students’ response questionnaire was significant. Based on descriptive statistics analysis and inferential statistics analysis, the cooperative learning model of TPS-NHT combination type was effective on Mathematics learning.
