Abstract

ABSTRACT The study was conducted at SMAN 7 Wajo, which aims at examining the effectiveness of mathematics learning by applying combination of cooperative learning of TGT-TAI type to students of grade X IPA at SMAN 7 Wajo. The type of this research is pre-experimental research. The population of the study were all students of grade X IPA at SMAN 7 Wajo and the sample consisted of one class of grade X IPA 2 as the experimental class taught by using combination of cooperative learning model of TGT-TAI type chosen by using simple random sampling technique. Data collected consisted of mathematics learning outcomes, students’ activities in learning, and students’ response and adversity quetiont after applying combination of cooperative learning of TGT-TAI type. Data of students’ activities, students’ responses and adversity quetiont were analyzed using descriptive analysis; whereas ,data of learning outcomes were analyzed using statistic descriptive analysis and statistic inferential analysis. The results of the study reveals that the application of combination of cooperative learning of TGT-TAI type is effective to be applied in mathematics learning on SPLTV material of students in grade X IPA at SMAN 7 Wajo shown by the following result: 1) descriptively and inferentially, the mean score of posttest is 80.62 which is greater than the KKM and p-value is smaller than 0.05; 2) descriptively and inferentially, the gain score is 0.6 which greater than 0.29 with p-value is smaller than 0.05; 3) descriptively and inferentially, the percentage of students who completed is 87.5% which is greater than 85% with Z count score is greater than Z table (7.4378 which is greater than 1.9594); 4) the average score of students’ activities is 3.6 (active category) which is greater than 3.5; 5) the average score of students’ response is 3.53 (good respond category) which is greater than 3.5; and 6) the average of adversity quetiont of students is 3.56 (moderate category) which is greater than 2.5.
