The instrument in this study was the researcher himself who was guided by a metacognitive awareness questionnaire,a problem solving ability test and a valid and reliable interview guide. The results of this study indicate that (1) subjects who have high metacognitive awareness understand the problem by identifying the problem, the subject makes a settlement plan by making several kinds of alternative solutions, the subject completes the settlement plan by monitoring and correcting errors that may occur, and interpreting the solution obtained written and oral, (2) subjects who have low metacognitive awareness tend to have difficulty in understanding the problem, are less skilled in determining resolution strategies, are not optimal in solving problems, and are less productive in interpreting solutions, (3) the difference is that subjects have high metacognitive awareness tend to be able to solve problems well, while subjects who have low metacognitive awareness tend to be difficult in solving problems. The recommendation of this research is that by involving metacognition activities will make students accustomed to involving all the knowledge they possess and managing it better.
