Abstract

The study was qualitative research which aimed to describe errors done by students, namely conceptual errors, principle errors,and procedural errors as well as factors wihch caused the errors based on cognitive aspect that convered anything which related to subjects intellectual ability and the way subjects processed or solved logarithm problems. The subjects of the study were grade XI students at senior high school consisted of 2 subjects, male subject (SL) and female subjects (SP). The researcher was the main instrument combined with diagnostic the whIch reconfirmed with guided interview, and conducted triangulation technique to obtain valid data. The results of the study reveal that 1) SL made conceptual errors, namely errors in rewriting a concept, principle errors namely, errors in rewriting a principle, innacurate in giving example of a principle, and inacuratte in applying logarithm principle in solving the problems, and procedural errors namely irregularity of step in solving logarithm problems, innacurates in calculation, and unable to proceed to the next step off completion, 2) SP made principle errors, namely errors in rewriting a principle,inn acurate in giving examples of aprinciple, and innacurate in applying logarithm principle in solving the problems, and conducted prosedural errors, namely irregularity of steps in solving logarithm problems, innacurate calculation, and unable to proceed to the next step of completion.
