Abstract

ABSTRACT The study aims at describing (1) The effectiveness of Mathematics Learning by implementing Open-Ended Cooperative Setting approach; (2) The effectiveness of Mathematics Learning by implementing Problem Solving Cooperative Setting approach; (3) Whether or not there is a difference of effectiveness of Open-Ended Cooperative Setting approach and Problem Solving Cooperative Setting approach in Mathematics learning of grade VIII students at SMPN 1 Tonra in Bone district. The type of this study was experiment research with the population of all students of grade VIII at SMPN 1 Tonra. The samples were experiment group I using Open-Ended Cooperative Setting approach and experiment group II using Problem Solving Cooperative Setting approach obtained by employing cluster random sampling technique. The instruments of the study were observation sheet of learning implementation, observation sheet of students’ activity, test of learning outcomes and students’ creativity and questionnaire of students’ response. Data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The results of the study reveal that (1) The implementation of Open-Ended Cooperative Setting approach in Mathematics learning of grade VIII students’ at SMPN 1 Tonra in Bone district was effective; (2) The implementation of Problem Solving Cooperative Setting approach in Mathematics learning of grade VIII students’ at SMPN 1 Tonra in Bone district was effective; (3) Inferentially, there was no difference of effectiveness between the implementation of Mathematics learning using Open-Ended Cooperative Setting approach and Problem Solving Cooperative Setting approaches of grade VIII students at SMPN 1 Tonra; however, descriptively, both these approaches had difference that the implementation of Open-Ended Cooperative Setting was more effective than the implementation of Problem Solving. The result of t-test with significance level α = 0.05 in Major hypothesis (1) The implementation of Open-Ended approach was effective; (2) The implementation of Problem Solving approach was effective and the result of independent samples test with significance level α = 0.05 in Major hypothesis (3) on (a) learning outcomes (post-test, gain); (b) Creativity; (c) Response, test two proportion similarities to classical mastery indicated that there was no difference of effectiveness of the implementation of Open-Ended approach and Problem Solving Cooperative Setting in mathematics learning of grade VIII students at SMPN 1 Tonra in Bone district. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan keefektifan pembelajaran matematika dengan penerapan pendekatan Open-Ended setting kooperatif (2) mendeskripsikan keefektifan pembelajaran matematika dengan penerapan pendekatan Problem Solving setting kooperatif (3) mendeskripsikan ada tidaknya perbedaan keefektifan pendekatan Open-Ended dan pendekatan Problem Solving setting kooperatif dalam pembelajaran matematika pada peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tonra Kabupaten Bone. Jenis penelitian ini yakni penelitian eksperimen dengan populasi seluruh peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tonra dan sampel yakni kelompok eksperimen I menggunakan pendekatan Open-Ended setting kooperatif dan kelompok eksperimen II menggunakan pendekatan Problem Solving setting kooperatif, dipilih menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini yakni lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, lembar observasi aktivitas peserta didik, tes hasil belajar dan kreativitas peserta didik serta angket respons peserta didik. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) penerapan pendekatan Open-Ended setting kooperatif dalam pembelajaran matematika pada peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tonra efektif; (2) penerapan pendekatan Problem Solving setting kooperatif dalam pembelajaran matematika pada peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tonra efektif; (3) secara inferensial tidak terdapat perbedaan keefektifan antara penerapan pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan Open-Ended dan pendekatan Problem Solving setting kooperatif pada peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tonra, namun secara deskriptif, kedua pendekatan ini memiliki perbedaan yakni penerapan pendekatan Open-Ended setting kooperatif lebih efektif dari pada penerapan pendekatan Problem Solving setting kooperatif. Hasil uji-t dengan taraf signifikan α = 0.05 pada hipotesis mayor (1) penerapan pendekatan Open-Ended efektif, (2) penerapan pendekatan Problem Solving efektif dan hasil uji independent samples test dengan taraf signifikan α = 0.05 pada hipotesis mayor (3) terhadap (a) hasil belajar (post-test, gain) (b) kreativitas (c) respons, uji kesamaan dua proporsi terhadap ketuntasan klasikal, menunjuan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan keefektifan penerapan pendekatan Open-Ended dan Problem Solving setting kooperatif dalam pembelajaran matematika pada peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tonra Kabupaten Bone. Kata Kunci: Keefektifan, komparasi, pendekatan Open-Ended dan pendekatan Problem Solving setting kooperatif.
