Abstract

This is an ex-post factor research which aims for revealing the extend of the influence of emotional intelligence and self-efficacy on learning result in mathematics directly as well as indirectly through achievement motivation based on learning styles.The population of VIII class students at public junior high schools SMPN in Takalar in academic year 2017/2018. The total members of the populationare 426 students with the sample of 116 students. The sample was determined by random sampling technique. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and path analysis. The results of the study reveal that (1) most of VIII class students at SMPN 2 Takalar and SMPN 5 Takalar have emotional intelligence and in high category, self-efficacy and achievement motivation are in medium category whereas, learning result in mathematics is in low category, (2) emotional intelligence and self-efficacy of students have positive influence directly on achievement motivation, (3) emotional intelligence and achievement motivation have positive influence directly on students learning results in mathematics, whereas, self-efficacy has no positive influence directly on learning result in mathematics, (4) emotional intelligence and self-efficacy each have an indirectly positive influence on student learning through achievement motivation, (5) there is a difference models of the influence of emotional intelligence and self-efficacy on learning results in mathematics directly as well as indirectly through achievement motivation based on students learning styles.
